Friend:

The story should not be new to you. A corporation realizes they can make more money by having their lobbyists give money to members of Congress. But wait! Controversy!

Turns out, the people they're giving money to did a bad thing. Actually, a very bad thing. Some might call it treason.

We did call it treason. And you reading this email kicked up enough of a stink that Toyota realized they had to stop giving money to the seditionist members of Congress who refused to certify President Biden's victory.

There's another chapter to the story. The corporation realizes they can try to do the thing they know makes them money because they think the controversy has blown over. They try to slip it by everyone.

Toyota just broke their promise to us and our democracy. They're giving to seditionists again. And they're doing it because they think we aren't paying attention.

They tried this last year. We stopped it. You were part of it. Here's our playbook to beat them again - but we need your help to do it.

1) Last week, over 50,000 of you made your voices heard and added your name to our petition calling Toyota out. We blew up social media too.

2) We at the Lincoln Project deployed a hard-hitting ad directly targeting Toyota dealers and their HQ in Texas, making Toyota employees know exactly what their company is doing (and then encouraging them to kick it up the chain to HQ and let them know what they think).

3) Our coalition partners at The Union are driving thousands of calls from you, the consumers, to dealerships and HQ to let Toyota know that putting profit over democracy is going to COST them money, not make them money.

That's how we win.  It's how we did it last time. But we need your help to sustain the pressure. We're not a Fortune 500 company with unlimited lobbying resources.

Are you with us? We still need help to make sure we have the resources to run a sustained campaign against this corporate behemoth and their lobbyists.
