And on the GREAT news front, our sister organization Gun Owners of America, just announced campus-carry activist Antonia Okafor as Director of Outreach, serving as a national spokesperson. This is awesome news, not just for the movement nationally, but for us in California as well. Notably, Okafor founded emPOWERed 2A, which trains and equips high school and college students to advocate for the right to keep and bear arms. Now, emPOWERed 2A will be backed by GOA.
As Thanksgiving Day approaches, it’s important to note that this day of celebration is a uniquely American tradition. Following a resolution of Congress, President George Washington proclaimed Thursday the 26th of November 1789 a day of “public thanksgiving and prayer” devoted to “the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be.” The Thanksgiving holiday we continue to celebrate was established by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and signed into law by Congress in 1941.
