We've got to start being honest about the consequences of our dependence on fossil fuels. Yes, it's devastating for our climate. Yes, it costs us more than ever (just look at gas prices). But it also props up wars like what's happening in Ukraine. Let me explain.

In 2022 alone Russia will make $321 billion in energy exports. Putin will turn around and use that income to fund his anti-democratic agenda.

So building a 100% clean energy economy isn't just critical for our climate, it's critical for democracies around the globe.

Here in Washington state, we're leading the nation in producing 100% clean energy, but I'm counting on supporters like you to build on that movement.

With your support, I've worked to make Washington a hub for clean energy technology, including launching our state's Clean Energy Fund and establishing the Clean Energy Institute at the University of Washington.

I'm proud to share that our work is paying off. In 2020, Washington produced more than one-tenth of the total renewable-sourced, utility-scale electricity nationwide. And just last month, I was proud to sign the Move Ahead Washington package to advance our clean fuel standard and electrify our ferries.

But we have so much more work to do to end the global dependence on the fossil fuel industry and the tyrants it props up. It's time to take our climate movement global with a bold investment in renewable energy -- are you with me?
