Hey friends,
You heard a little bit about me earlier, but let me formally introduce myself. I am Shaquana Boykin - BTE endorsed candidate, Democratic District leader in Brooklyn, and I am up for re-election!
I was born in Crown Heights and I am a proud product of New York City public schools and New York’s foster system. I entered the foster system as a teenager - something nobody should have to go through. Although I do not wish anyone to go through this experience and heartbreak, it shaped me into who I am today.
I was once labeled as a
disadvantaged youth, those words stuck with me, those words hurt. Everyday since then, I have worked towards never hearing those words said to me or any other child ever again. I have dedicated my life to volunteering in non-profit organizations, helping the youth engage in civic matters, and fighting for the best interests in my community.
I never thought I would be involved in politics yet here I am, loving every minute of it (well maybe not every minute)! My last term was focused on rebuilding leadership and accountability throughout my community and if re-elected, I will commit to keeping the work I have begun.
My district deserves an elected official who will be there for them period. I am that person.
As a BTE candidate, I wanted to personally say thank you for sticking with me in my race and let’s go win this thing!
