Democrats say they will act soon to lower gas prices – The Biden Administration’s policy agenda is irreconcilable with the goal of increased oil production in the United States, as well as with future demand. Regardless of the Administration’s aspirations to overhaul the energy sector, the EIA projects no scenario where global oil demand slows down between now and 2050. While the U.S. cannot determine the market price of oil, policymakers can influence it by pivoting quickly to allow Americans to access their energy abundance. The Plot To Undermine America’s Institutions – Critical race theory is about race and power. Critical legal theory claims America’s laws are systemically oppressive and designed to keep ethnic minorities in the underclass and is also about undermining American institutions. State lawmakers should propose legislation to uphold First Amendment rights to assemble and speak freely. Teachers should not force students to admit privilege, adhere to a set of principles with which they disagree, or attend Black Lives Matter protests for a grade. Heritage Expert: Jonathan Butcher
The fog of the 2023 defense budget – The Department of Defense has created a “fog of war” for Congress with its budget request. “Fog of war” is a phrase coined by Carl von Clausewitz to describe the inherent uncertainty that prevails during warfare, forcing individuals to make decisions amid imperfect knowledge. Pentagon brass should work on clearing that fog on the battlefield and beyond, not creating it for their Congressional overseers. However, by delivering its budget request late and incomplete, the department has created a thick fog, indeed. Heritage Expert: Fred Bartels
Why the Left Wants Twitter Over Tolstoy in Our School – If one leftist teachers group gets its way, reading literature in school will be replaced by reading internet memes and Twitter posts. A powerful group of educators called the National Council of Teachers of English recently released a statement calling on schools to “decenter book reading and essay writing as the pinnacles of English language arts education.” But why? To more thoroughly push its leftist ideology, of course. Heritage Expert: Douglas Blair
We’re Still Fighting to Protect Our Liberty Today – Americans who are fighting the left’s attempts to restrict our liberties, destroy our culture, and manipulate our society using the imperious power of the government sometimes may forget that we’ve been struggling to preserve our liberty and freedoms from overbearing governments since the beginning of our nation. Built in 1741 on a high hill with a sweeping view of the James River, St. John’s is still a functioning church today. St. John’s is the place where American patriot Patrick Henry gave one of the most famous speeches in history, concluding with the immortal words, “Give me liberty, or give me death.” Nearly 250 years later, we bemoan that government has sunk its claws into almost every aspect of our lives, including our families, our professions, and our businesses.
