Friend,

The 2022 Maryland General Assembly legislative session came to an end on Monday, April 11th after 90 days of busy bill passing, map re-drawing, vetoing, overriding, and more. A full list of bills that we tracked and their final status can be found here . [[link removed]]
Here’s your 2022 Session Recap! ⬇️

As predicted, the biggest bills moved quickly and early in session due to the time restriction imposed by Hogan’s last term. Strong Future Maryland was proud to advocate alongside our partners, community activists, legislators, and more to advance equity and promote a sustainable, just, and prosperous economic future for all Marylanders. And by-and-large, we succeeded!

These major bills passed, along with many others:
✅ Paid Family and Medical Leave
(Time to Care Act)
✅ Major Climate Change Initiatives
(Climate Solutions Now)
✅ Addressing Health Disparities
(Healthy Babies Act & Abortion Care Access Act)
✅ Protecting Tenants
(Tenant Protection Act + more bills!)
✅ Youth Justice Reform
(Juvenile Justice Reform & Child Interrogation Protection Act)

There’s still a lot more work to be done for Marylanders, and we’re hoping to share some big updates with you soon. In the meantime, don’t forget to send us your volunteer events, job opportunities, internships, and other ways for community members to get involved so we can include them in our monthly newsletter! You can fill out our form here [[link removed]] or email [email protected] [[email protected]] for more information.

As always, we can’t do any of this without you. We rarely ask for donations, but even $5 helps us provide crucial support to our community partners, compensate our interns and policy fellows, and advocate on behalf of Marylanders. If you’re able, consider pitching in today >>> [[link removed]]
