Hi there, John – it's Daniel. You might know me as Abby's husband, but when Abby was in Congress, I was just as proud to be her constituent.

When I first met Abby, one of the things that stood out to me most was her unflinching commitment to her North Star: public service. You see, to Abby, the value of public service is ingrained in her family. With World War II veterans, firefighters, nurses and public school employees in her family, Abby learned quickly that service to your community is also service to your country.

As a state representative, a congresswoman and now a candidate for the U.S. Senate, Abby has never been afraid of a challenge. I know that she'll work harder than anyone else to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley and deliver for the working families she serves. When she wins, Democrats will be virtually guaranteed to hold Senate control.

If you also believe in Abby, can you make your first donation of just $5 to help her defeat Sen. Grassley and expand our Senate majority?

Abby knows that public service isn’t about doing what is easy or convenient. It is about showing up every day, especially when people need you most.

Two days after we got married, my hometown of Cedar Rapids was hit with a derecho, a storm equivalent to an inland hurricane. Every square mile of the city, including the very spot where we said our vows just 48 hours earlier, was impacted, and the destruction was overwhelming – but Abby got straight to work.

For weeks following the storm, Abby relentlessly fought for federal assistance, gathered supplies for constituents in need and made sure no one could ignore what had just happened.

Abby isn’t just the right candidate to beat Chuck Grassley this November. More importantly, she’s the right public servant to serve Iowa in the U.S. Senate.

So please, can I count on you to make your first grassroots donation right here and now to elect Abby and defeat Sen. Grassley?

Thanks for everything you do to support Abby's campaign. It means so much to our family.

– Daniel (Abby's husband)
