While Americans empty our wallets at the gas pump, Big Oil executives are raking in record profits.

At the same time that Exxon ended their last quarter with record profit, gas cost over $4.50 a gallon across Washington. This price gouging by Big Oil isn't surprising, but it's absolutely inexcusable.

It's time for us to move away from this predatory, dirty industry -- for the sake of our planet as much as our pocket books. But you and I both know that Big Oil will stop at nothing to protect their profits, so we need to continue our fight for a clean energy future.

Just a few weeks ago, I was proud to sign a pledge to phase out the sale of new, gas-powered cars by 2030 here in Washington state -- the most ambitious gas vehicle phase-out goal in the nation.

To meet our emission reduction goals and save our planet, we really have no choice but to divest from Big Oil and their exploitative practices (now on display at every gas station.)

Undoubtedly, Big Oil execs will take their billions in ill-gotten profits and invest it right back into their anti-science, anti-climate agenda to keep the American people hooked on increasingly expensive oil.
