Indivisibles,
Congress is back from a two-week recess which means that we could start to
see some movement on legislative issues -- COVID-19 funding, Ukraine
funding, and a cap on insulin pricing to name a few possibilities.
As we’ve seen in the past, we have no assurance that Congress will do the
right thing and immediately pass much-needed legislation to serve the
American people. Legislation is still the most powerful tool for change on
a national scale, so we continue to monitor any movement in Congress and
look for every opportunity to support progress.
But we know that we can not wait for relief. So while we monitor the
legislative process, we’re still encouraging President Biden to use the
full extent of his powers to effect change. Last week, we focused on
letters to the editor (LTEs) to drive attention to our key executive
action targets -- this week we’re focusing on calls.
Congress is back in session, so let’s make sure that all of our
representatives hear from us and encourage President Biden to take
   action.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:
   --------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              Your 4 weekly to-dos
    1. [ [link removed] ]Click here to call the White House comment line and tell President
Biden to lower prescription drug prices. One in four Americans
struggles to afford their essential medications. We can not afford to
wait for a legislative fix while Big Pharma lines its pockets! We need
President Biden to use his existing authority to unilaterally lower
drug prices right now while we continue to push for a more permanent
       legislative solution.
    2. [ [link removed] ]If you live in a blue state, click here to call your senator and
push them to tell Biden he must declare a National Climate Emergency.
President Biden has narrowly invoked the Defense Production Act (DPA)
-- one of the most important powers that can be invoked under a
national emergency -- to increase production of mining in order to aid
in the manufacturing of electric vehicle (EV) batteries. It is good
that the administration has invoked the DPA, but this narrow focus is
not enough to address the climate crisis. [ [link removed] ]When you’re done with
your senator, click here to call your representative and tell them to
encourage Biden to declare a National Climate Emergency.
    3. [ [link removed] ]If you live in a red state, click here to demand that President
Biden take action on climate. The climate crisis does not care if we
live in a red state or a blue state. To make your voice heard, connect
to the White House comment line directly and tell President Biden that
we need immediate, bold action on climate.
    4. [ [link removed] ]Sign up for Indivisible’s National Rural Caucus. Whether you've

disinformation-fighting pros for new and existing members, message
workshopping support, and -- maybe most important -- connect with a
community of people who care as much as you do about rebuilding a society
based on truth and trust. This is also where we launch new Truth Brigade
   campaigns.
