Don't miss out on the amazing opportunity to meet with us tomorrow at our in-person, outdoor Membership Summit!

What can be better than meeting up outside, in-person, and talking about transit, service restoration, community organizing efforts, and more? In our minds, nothing is better! That's why we hope you'll join us tomorrow, April 26 at 5:30pm for our second annual Membership Summit! This is the perfect time to get to know SFTR, what we do, who we are, and why our works matters. Not only will we give you an overview of all we've done and all we plan to do this year — such as what's happening with local transit funding, regional transit integration and fares, service restoration, our community organizing efforts in the Tenderloin and Bayview — but we'll also dive into how it all fits together for making the change we need. Finally, we'll have some breakout groups that focus on different aspects of our policy and community work.

Our members are our lifeblood, and we hope you'll become one today. We work to center riders' voices with every action we take. The Membership Summit is a great way to make sure your voice and suggestions are heard, to ask all your questions, and to see how you might get involved with SFTR and transit policy in our city.

SFTR Writes Letter of Support for Car-Free JFK and Transit Investments

As the voice of riders throughout the city, San Francisco Transit Riders urges you to keep JFK Drive car-free and make significant investments to improve transit access to and within the park, particularly for equity priority communities. Read the full letter here and then email your supervisor and ask them to support Car-Free JFK and transit investments.

SFMTA Budget Passes with huge transit wins!

Last week, The San Francisco MTA budget passed with no fare increase and free muni for all youth! SFTR advocated for both these major transit wins, and we are so grateful to everyone involved for making this success possible!

"I care about improving transit because I am a transit dependent rider myself."

This month, SFTR staff and Board Members are sharing what being a member of San Francisco Transit Riders means to them and their communities. Click below to hear why B-Rod, our Community Organizer, cares about transit in San Francisco! And consider donating in April in honor of Membership Month!

Grab a seat at the table: Join one of our working groups today to help advocate for a rider-led vision of SF's transportation network!

As the only transit rider advocacy organization in San Francisco, we empower everyday transit riders to raise their collective voices to advocate for pro-rider policies. Our members give us the political, financial and volunteer power to accomplish goals we would otherwise not be able to achieve.

Working groups build on SFTR's rich history of member-led advocacy, helping to define and lead our rider-first agenda.

From the ED’s Seat This Earth Day:

From the ED’s seat this Earth Week is me grappling with the understanding of the Non Profit Industrial Complex where our social justice movements can get monitored and controlled to “make the world safe for capitalism.” Of course, much has been written and theorized about alternatives as a counter response. The inimitable Ruth Wilson Gilmore has argued for attributes for non profits to be effective: “a clear mission and purpose” and being “funded by their constituents”. I think of San Francisco Transit Riders’ preparedness in this regard. Our mission to elevate the voice of riders to improve public transit in the city and the 600+ dues paying members, you all, fueling our engine to make a difference in the cacophony. How do we deepen our impact?

John- Become a member today! Your membership provides access to member benefits, special access to events, opportunities to inform our priorities, and to help us lead the fight for world-class transit!
