John,

Good morning and welcome to our Weekend Update.

First, I hope everyone had a blessed, happy, and healthy Passover and Easter! Our family had a great holiday, enjoyed time with the family, and we all agreed that we were ready for some warmer spring weather.

We had a very busy and productive week traveling the district, but first, I want to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last week, I was informed that Vladimir Putin banned me for life from visiting Russia. My initial response is that it should be rephrased. I’m banned for Putin’s lifespan because the day will come when Russia will be free of Putin, and Vladimir will go down in history in the same category as history’s other historic mass-killing dictators. We must do everything we can to help Europe become energy independent so they stop buying Russia’s energy. Russia’s war is being underwritten by those purchasing their energy. We must show a more significant level of support for Ukraine. The United States has given them weapons and other support, but we must do more. Ukraine losing this war is not an option.

Another topic I am laser-focused on is Biden’s continuing disaster at our southern border. Crossings of illegals entering our nation through our southern border continue to spike. Unfortunately, rather than correct the issue, the Biden administration is doubling down by lifting Title 42, which will only worsen the southern border crisis. Title 42 allows the United States government to turn away illegal immigrants coming from nations with known health issues. Any member of U.S. Congress who does not speak up on Biden’s lifting of Title 42 has blood on their hands. What’s wrong and lawfully contradictory, which makes it unlawful, is requiring all noncitizens entering by land or air to be vaccinated. How can this be the requirement, yet tens of thousands admitted illegally without vaccines?

I joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Biden administration’s decision to lift Title 42. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: This week, thankfully, a federal judge ruled the Biden administration and the CDC’s continued mask mandate on air travel was unlawful. But unfortunately, the Biden won’t let that decision stand. His “rationale” for appealing a federal court’s decision to end the transportation mask mandate isn’t about “the science” but his power.

His administration admitted it. They believe his mandates should be above the law and not subject to judicial review:

- Jen Psaki: Biden is appealing the ruling on the federal mask mandate to “preserve that authority for the CDC.”

- Anthony Fauci: “We are concerned about that, about courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally a public health decision. This is a CDC issue. It should not have been a court issue.”

- “This is not a judicial matter…the principle of a court overruling a public health judgment … is disturbing.”

- “We're worried about” judges being able to review CDC mandates.

- Biden's top COVID advisor Ashish Jha: “A major goal” of the Biden administration “is to make sure that the CDC has the authority” to implement mask mandates unilaterally.

And exposing their hypocrisy once and for all, the administration is forcing mandates while lifting restrictions on illegal immigrants. If Title 42 is no longer necessary, why are masks on airplanes? The science behind the benefit of masks on airplanes wasnever solid.

The Democrat’s hypocrisy on Covid-19 is made even more crystal clear now. It’s always been “rules for thee and not for me,” and about power, not the science.

Traveling the 9th District:

On Tuesday, I spoke at a ceremony hosted by the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and Senator Dave Argall to recognize the many heroes that helped with the horrible accident on March 28 in Schuylkill County on I-81. This event was hosted at Wegman's distribution center in Pottsville, and I was pleased to present certificates of special congressional recognition to all heroes involved.

On Wednesday, I attended an event at Eco Material Technologies in Danville for a celebration commemorating the achievement of having 150,000 tons of fly ash cleaned up from the site. This company will continue to clean up hundreds of thousands of tons more of fly ash from the area and use the ash to create cement to help build infrastructure across the country. Our great friend Rep. Kurt Masser and other local elected officials accompanied me.

Later that evening, I attended a rally in Danville for U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick with special guest, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. As I have said many times, Dave is the right person to represent Pennsylvania in the United States at a critical time in our nation's history. He has my full support.

On Thursday morning, I stopped in Jonestown, Lebanon County, where the Military Warriors Support Foundation teamed up with Wells Fargo to gift a home to U.S. Marine veteran James Fizer. It was a great gesture and well-earned. Thank you for your service, Mr. Fizer.

That afternoon, I visited small businesses in Lebanon City with Senator Chris Gebhard, Commissioner Michael Kuhn, Commissioner Bob Phillips, and Mayor Sherry Capello. We visited several fantastic small businesses during our tour, including Snitz Creek Brewery, MamaJuana Lounge & Restaurant, Red Headed League Public House, Foltz's Pretzels, Under The Bridge - Hard Cider, and Wertz Candies. Our small businesses contribute tremendously to our communities, and I always value the opportunity to visit and speak with them about their successes and challenges.

Later, I attended the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s 50th-anniversary celebration in Leesport. (Pictured below with State Representative Ryan MacKenzie, Berks County Commissioner Michael Rivera, State Senator Judy Schwank, State Representative Mark Gillen and County Commissioner Christian Leinbach.)

Finally, I closed out the evening with the Berks County Patriots and our good friend Sam Brancadora for their candidate’s night. I can’t say enough about the Berks County Patriots' excellent work highlighting candidates and their commitment to a greater commonwealth and nation.

On Friday morning, I stopped by Shamokin High School’s Purple Perk Coffee Shop, run by an incredible group of students. I grabbed a great cup of coffee and was fortunate to see how great of an operation they run while teaching students hands-on skills of working. Northumberland County Commissioner Sam Schiccatano joined me.

After that, I popped into the school’s state government class to speak to freshmen about what it is like to serve in Congress. Great group of young students. I want to thank school superintendent Chris Venna and their great teacher Traci Beck for the invitation.

After that, we headed to Bloomsburg to meet with the Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center, home to many tech and business startups in the area.

That evening, I headed to the Luzerne County GOP Dinner held at The Woodlands in Wilkes-Barre Township. Chairman PJ Prubilla and the committee had a tremendous event.

Yesterday, I started my day in Annville, Lebanon County, with Senator Chris Gebhard and Rep. Frank Ryan to celebrate the American Legion’s 100th Anniversary.

Yesterday, I attended the Lycoming County Patriot's Candidates Day in Montoursville.

Later, I stopped by Americus Hose Company, visited with crew and had one of their world famous hamburgers. After, I popped by the Sunbury Fire Police Dinner held in Sunbury at the Fraternal Order of Eagles building. I was joined by Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver and Congressman Fred Keller. I addressed the crowd and discussed the importance of fire police and their service.

With just weeks until the Primary Election, this year is moving quickly. We have some consequential elections this fall and we are going to need everyone pushing hard to win elections for our Republican team at the federal and state level. Our campaign has yard signs available and a limited number of 4x8s are available. If you would like a yard sign, please email [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or call 570-915-3027.

Keep up the faith and the fight,

Dan Meuser
