Hi there, John, it's Abby's mom, Deb. My daughter is running to defeat a senator who's been in office almost my entire adult life. You heard that right: Sen. Grassley (R-IA) has been in Congress since 1975!
Things have changed quite a bit in the half-century since the '70s. We left behind the baby-blue tuxedos, we replaced our thick orange shag carpets, we repainted our pea-green kitchens, we stopped wearing blue eyeshadow and we grew out of those feathered haircuts.
Now it's time to get rid of something – or rather, someone – else from the '70s: Sen. Chuck Grassley. Just like these outdated trends, Sen. Grassley and the beliefs he brings to the U.S. Senate don't belong in this century: he wants to control the personal health care choices of women, he wants to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and he wants to go on blocking protections for union families like ours. He even said women don't want to do the work it takes to serve on the Judiciary Committee.
Sen. Grassley has gone out of style. He’s just as wrong for the Senate in 2022 as a pair of hot pants would be. That's why only 27% of likely voters said they want to send him back to Washington for an eighth term. Iowans know it's time for change, for a fresh perspective and for a senator who will lead Iowa forward. There's no one better for that job than my daughter, Abby.
The polling shows real momentum for Abby's campaign, but to compete with massive resources on the right, she needs grassroots support from people like you.
