You’ve probably heard by now the leaked audio of Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy says to Liz Cheney and other GOP leaders he’s going to ask Trump to resign in the wake of January 6th.

What stands out to me isn’t what he said on that call, but what his actions were right after. McCarthy and many of my Republican colleagues may have said these things privately, but when it came time for them to stand up publicly for democracy, they turned on a dime. They defended Trump and continue to do so to this day.

There is nothing worse than a politician who says one thing, and then does another.

This is pure cowardice. They don’t care about the fact that our democracy was under attack, they only care about saving their political careers. They’ll do anything to stay in power.

Are we really about to hand the Speaker’s gavel to Kevin McCarthy? If we don’t win this toss-up seat, that’s going to be our reality in November.
