Dear friend,

I wrote a few weeks ago with the news that we’re changing the name of our organisation - from Jubilee Debt Campaign to Debt Justice. This is an exciting time, as we grow our movement to end the poverty and inequality caused by unjust debt.

Before our relaunch on 16 May, I wanted to make sure we’ve heard your views about this change. Thank you very much if you attended our last event or sent us feedback already.

Complete the survey: what do you think of the name change?
There's also another opportunity to have a chat with us and ask any questions you have about the change of name, or our campaigns more broadly. This will be 3 May at 6:30pm.
Book tickets to speak with us on 3 May
It's been really delightful to hear the stories you have shared about our history and the excitement about this next chapter. Thank you to those who have shared your concerns as well, we are taking these into consideration.

With the pandemic still on-going in many countries around the world and surging costs affecting many of us at home, now more than ever we must grow our movement to demand debt justice.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

In solidarity,
Heidi

Dear friend,

We have some exciting news to share - as of 16 May, we will be changing the name of our organisation from Jubilee Debt Campaign to Debt Justice.
This will be our new logo.

Why have we changed our name?

As the need for debt justice grows, we needed to address some hard truths. Through surveys in the past two years, supporters like you have said that our current name is a barrier to engaging people.

In one survey 75% said the name was unclear or unhelpful.

Many are unsure of what we do, or associate the word 'Jubilee' with the monarchy. Having a name that reflects where we have come from and expresses our intent is essential. When we asked supporters and partners, they told us that Debt Justice is the name the majority preferred, and the name that can carry our work forward into the future.

We remain committed to, and rooted in the concept of Jubilee and everything it represents - debt cancellation, celebration, hope, restoration, redistribution and justice. All of these are extremely important values and will continue to drive our campaigns.

This is the start of a new chapter, and we need to build our impact and influence. If you have any questions, or comments, there will be an exclusive meeting for supporters like yourself on 11 April, at 6:30pm. You'll have the opportunity to ask me any questions and give feedback about this change.

Your opinion means a lot to us, so if you would prefer to leave written feedback - you can also do it here.

With lower income countries on the frontlines of the climate crisis, and the cost of living soaring here in the UK, we need to grow a powerful debt justice movement - changing our name at this point is crucial to mobilise new activists and supporters to take action to help end harmful debt.

There is more information on our relaunch page and as ever, please feel free to email. Thank you so much for your support and I am looking forward to campaigning with you as Debt Justice.

In solidarity,
Heidi
