Since I decided to run for office, I’ve been called many things. My friends said I was crazy for putting myself out there, my mother called me brave while looking at me with wide eyes, and my campaign manager won’t stop calling me at all hours of the night.

But today, I want to tell you what I’m not.

I’m not a pushover: I won’t sell out my vision for Colorado just because the DC elites or big Super PACs tell me to change. Too often, the people with the best ideas are silenced by the loudest voices in the room. Well, I’m not backing down.

I’m not a millionaire: I can’t just write myself a check to buy my way onto the ballot or your TV screens. And I’m not calling up Wall Street bankers asking for their millions, either. I am, however, humbled by our growing team of over 5,000 who give an average of $30 to keep this campaign powered by the grassroots.

I’m not your average “politician”: I’m not a partisan who blindly follows party orders and I won’t just go along with what’s trending in DC. Today’s Congress looks more like an old playground where members throw tantrums, name-call across the aisle, and use their vote to win a seat at the “cool kids' table.” I’m an engineer – I know when things are broken and I know how to fix them.

And sadly, I hate to break it to all the fellas (and the older ladies who think I’m adorable), but I am not single. I’m sorry to disappoint you.

I’ll end with one thing I am.

I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. It’s been an uphill battle every day trying to defeat the MAGA mob, but with my small dollar donors, we’ve been able to build a Democratic movement Congressional District 3 has never seen.
