[{CAMPAIGNPAGE_URL~43488~[link removed]}]
John,
Earlier this month, more than 10,000 wildlife advocates like you signed on to a
National Bison Day card in support of the tribal partners that have made great
strides in helping restore wild bison to tribal lands and western prairies. And
new research confirms long-held indigenous knowledge that bison—through their
unique grazing habits—accelerate the growth and nutritiousness of native grasses
and enhance their regional ecosystem.
Join our efforts to build on their success and help restore bison to their
ancestral home: Please make a generous donation today to our Wild Great Plains Campaign to
restore the ecologically-important and magnificent wild bison to the West.

For centuries, millions of wild bison roamed North America's vast grasslands,
but they were nearly wiped out in the late 1800's. Decades of overexploitation,
habitat loss, decline in genetic diversity, and human conflict have stripped
nearly all free-ranging bison from their natural grassland habitat.
Thanks in part to the generosity of friends like you, tribal partners and the
National Wildlife Federation are leading efforts to relocate wild bison and
return them to their native habitats where they belong. The Eastern Shoshone and
Northern Arapaho Tribes of the Wind River Reservation both had reason to
celebrate. The Northern Arapaho made history by welcoming 10 bison to create
their first-ever herd, which was truly a landmark moment. And the Eastern
Shoshone celebrated the birth of a new calf, which marks six in total this year!
But our efforts to help bison—and all at-risk Great Plains wildlife—recover
cannot succeed unless members and wildlife champions like you step up.
Please be a strong voice for bison and other wildlife in need by making an
urgently needed donation now to our Wild Great Plains Campaign.

By supporting our Wild Great Plains Campaign, we will be able to continue
critical efforts like these:
* Continuing to engage local and national partners—including our work with
Native American tribes to restore bison to tribal lands across the West.
* Protecting native grasslands and public lands through our work to fully-fund
the Land and Water Conservation Fund and address the destructive production
of ethanol.
* Expanding our efforts to secure safe habitat for bison and other wildlife
through our Adopt-a-Wildlife-Acre program.
Please make a generous donation right away to our Wild Great Plains Campaign to
help bison and advance efforts to restore them to their natural habitats, as
well as protect all of America’s treasured wildlife.
