Dan Lipinski’s record makes it hard to believe he’s a Democrat at all.
He wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. He’s shown he’s completely out of touch with his constituency, cosponsoring legislation that would ban abortion at 20 weeks.2
He voted repeatedly to defund Planned Parenthood.3
He even marched alongside Mike Pence at the annual anti-choice "March for Life."4
Besides his anti-choice grandstanding — having cosponsored more than 50 bills restricting abortion! — he’s also on the record opposing civil and human rights for the LGBTQ+ community, he voted against the DREAM Act, FOR funding Trump’s racist border wall, and he voted against the Affordable Care Act.5,6,7,8
It’s an extreme record that you might expect from a representative in a deep red district — but Lipinski’s Chicago district is solidly blue and regularly votes for Democratic presidential candidates by double-digit margins.9
That’s why pro-choice champion Marie Newman almost beat him in 2018 — and it’s why we know she can win in 2020. She’s the representative that Illinois — and the country — needs in Congress to fight for reproductive freedom.
