John,
Health care is a human right, yet the United States is one of the few developed countries that does not provide its citizens with universal coverage and instead prioritizes lining the pockets of corporations.
Mondaire is fighting for universal health care because growing up, he watched his grandmother, like so many seniors in our country, work well past retirement age just to afford prescription drugs, dental care, and the basic medical procedures needed to survive. Far too many Americans can say the same.
In the richest nation in the world, too many folks have risked financial ruin or gone without necessary medical care. It’s time for our government to pass Medicare for All to ensure every American has comprehensive health care and to cap the annual cost of prescription drugs.
The coronavirus pandemic has exposed many of the gaps in our existing social safety net. And the global pandemic we face demonstrates the need for health care as a human right, regardless of income or employment, as well as mandatory paid sick leave. Every American should be able to visit a doctor when needed and fill prescriptions without breaking the bank.
This legislation is necessary to protect the health of folks across our nation, and it will also put hundreds of dollars back into the pockets of hardworking Americans and boost our economy. Together, we can support Mondaire’s efforts to pass this critical legislation.
Thank you for supporting his efforts to make our country more fair and equitable for every American.
