Great news this week, the Feminist Majority endorsed Lizzie for re-election!

Lizzie is a proven champion for women’s rights and equality in Congress. She’s fighting for legislation that would codify Roe v. Wade and protect reproductive rights, pave the way for the Equal Rights Amendment to become the law of the land, and secure equal pay for equal work.
A member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, Lizzie led an effort to recognize and honor women leaders of the reproductive rights and justice movement and call attention to the fight to defend and expand access to reproductive health care.
That fight is more urgent than ever in the wake of Texas’ S.B. 8 and Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization , a case now before the Supreme Court concerning Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban that threatens the future of Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights in our country.
Texas has been at the forefront of bad legislation, and over the last week, we have seen the extreme and dangerous outcome of these efforts.
If you didn’t see the news, you must know that a Texas woman was charged for murder for a “self-induced abortion” in South Texas last week. The facts surrounding this outrageous charge are still emerging, but we know from public statements that a hospital reported a woman who came in seeking care and that a district attorney went before a grand jury to indict a woman for murder for it. While the Starr County District Attorney has now dismissed the charge, this aggressive prosecution is an outrage, and a sign of what is to come in Texas and elsewhere if Roe is overturned.
There is no other way: We must focus on electing pro-choice champions at every level of government and fighting with everything we have to protect Roe and safe, accessible reproductive health care, including abortion care.
As Justice Ginsburg said, “Women belong everywhere decisions are being made.” Lizzie joined colleagues recently in voting to honor late Supreme Court justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first and second women to serve on the highest court in our country, with statues in the U.S. Capitol. And it is particularly fitting as we celebrate the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman nominated to serve on the court.
We have much work ahead of us, but building on the work of women who have fought for our rights for years, and with the support of allies like the Feminist Majority, we are confident in what our team can accomplish together.
