Hey John,
At the White House earlier today with my colleague, Zeenat, President Biden announced executive action on gun violence. He appointed a new Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Director nominee, and he just closed a loophole that allowed “ghost guns” to go untraced and avoid regulations. This is a HUGE win for our movement.
Moving forward, ghost guns—which can be purchased online and assembled at home—are now classified as firearms, which means makers of gun kits must include a serial number on the firearms, and sellers have to follow the same regulations as other firearms, such as a background check for purchases. This new ruling will help to reduce everyday gun violence that often doesn’t make the news and disproportionately affects communities of color.
John, our ongoing efforts to hold President Biden accountable are working but this is also just the beginning. Can you chip in $5 or more to help us keep this momentum going?

Regulating ghost guns is a critical and overdue step to bring us closer to ending the epidemic of gun violence, but it’s far from enough. Today, President Biden demonstrated that he can use the power of his office to take urgent action to save lives, even as Congress refuses. We are calling on him to do more. John, the reason victories like this happen is because our team is persistent and resolute in our advocacy. Can you help us keep the momentum going?
Onward,
