Congratulations to new Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson – an accomplished judge with an outstanding record and history of public service to the nation’s highest court! Judge Jackson’s dedication to human and civil rights and her deep understanding of the law make her eminently qualified to serve as a Supreme Court justice.

Judge Jackson’s clerkship experience under former Justice Stephen Breyer gave her direct knowledge of the operations of the court, and she shares former Justice Breyer's consensus-building approach to the role of justice.

Despite the lack of GOP support of her nomination (3 exceptions), the Senate confirmed Judge Jackson three times in the past to: the U.S. Sentencing Commission, the District of Columbia Circuit Court, and unanimous support to the District of Columbia District Court.
A total of 115 persons have served on the Supreme Court since 1789.

Judge Jackson has more experience than four of the current justices ([link removed]) combined and she is also the first and only justice with experience as a public defender. Judges with more diverse professional and life experiences improve our legal system.

Judge Jackson has received numerous awards ([link removed]) throughout her career including the Columbia University Law School's Constance Baker Motley Award for empowering women of color, “advancing the rights of people,” and demonstrating a “legacy of giving back to the community.” In her acceptance speech, Judge Jackson stated that “the responsibility” of being a judge means “doing the work that is necessary to protect the rule of law and to promote equality and justice for all.”

It is vital that the United States has fair-minded justices and judges at all levels who are deeply committed to its principles of equality and justice for all. By confirming her to the U.S. Supreme Court, Congress has helped ensure the court works for everyone. Make sure you vote for the judges on your ballot!
