Hi, folks, Richard here.  I’m writing to give you a heads up that I’ll be out of the country for a little while – I’m leaving on Sunday for a 45-day tour of Western and Eastern Europe!

Before you ask: No, I’m not going to Ukraine.  My soldier days are behind me, and besides, my wife would be hopping mad if I even thought about doing that. But as I travel around the rest of the continent and meet with various people, I’m hoping to gain a lot more insight into the situation over there, that I will in turn share with you.

I’ll be writing from the road as much as I can, so expect updates.  And if you want to travel with me “virtually,” you can subscribe to my Facebook page, where I’ll be posting videos and doing daily livestreams.

I’m super stoked for this voyage – in addition to the major Western European tourist cities, I’m going out of my way to visit places I last saw as a young soldier on my way to war, but never got to explore.

Places like Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, and Slovenia – all of which have their own harrowing stories to tell about war, alongside rich cultures and histories that I just can’t wait to dive into.

In the meantime, No Dem Left Behind is in good hands with Hassan and the rest of the team, but don’t forget to give them your support while I’m gone!  The midterms are just around the corner, and they’re going to be busting tail pretty much 24/7 to flip America’s Heartland blue.
