Dear Friend,
Ruth’s List Florida is excited to announce that the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates (FAPPA) will receive the 2022 Architect of Change Award at our annual She’s the Change Conference. The Architect of Change award recognizes trailblazers in the fight for reproductive rights and women’s equality in Florida. Previous award recipients include the Honorable Arthenia Joyner (2017), the Honorable Betty Castor (2018) and the Honorable Alex Sink (2019).
“The Ruth’s List Board of Directors and staff cannot think of a more deserving recipient of our most prestigious award, especially in light of the looming abortion ban in Florida and upcoming Supreme Court ruling that could overturn Roe v. Wade,” said Emma Collum, board chair. “As the advocacy arm of Florida’s Planned Parenthood affiliates, they are on the front lines ensuring access to comprehensive, affordable reproductive health care for all. We are deeply grateful to their staff, volunteers and donors for their service to our community. Their work to educate and mobilize against attempts to chip away at abortion rights is more important than ever.”
We are honored that Laura Goodhue, Executive Director of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates and Vice President of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood of South, East, and North Florida, will accept the award on FAPPA’s behalf during the conference on May 14th. Laura has spent the last nine years in these roles with Planned Parenthood, working tirelessly on behalf of abortion rights and access in Florida.
