John,

To quote Bloomberg Philanthropies, "How much of a difference can trees make in a city? You might be surprised."

Cleaner air. Cleaner water. Cooler temperatures. Flood prevention. Even benefits for local businesses.

PowerUp NC is a project of the NCLCV Foundation. PowerUp's Raleigh team is starting a year-long effort to "throw some shade" (the good kind) on Raleigh and nearby urban areas.

With your financial support, we will be planting trees in formerly red-lined areas to combat heat islands, where temperatures are 1-7 degrees higher than surrounding areas, forcing power bills up in the exact areas that can afford it least.

We will also be providing plants for community gardens in food deserts, places where healthy food is hard to reach and harder to afford.

For just $25, you can provide a tree. For only $12, you can provide a tomato plant. Click here to sponsor our effort » [link removed]

Thanks,
