FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 2022 GREATER GEORGIA LAUNCHES VOTER REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN FOR CONSUMERS ACROSS METRO ATLANTA ATLANTA – This Saturday, April 9, Greater Georgia will launch a multi-county campaign to register voters at gas stations across Metro Atlanta, highlighting how the Washington agenda has driven historic price increases over the last year on everything from groceries to gasoline. By mobilizing voters at the point of sale, Georgians will be encouraged to take action and vote in the upcoming May primary and November general election. Part of Greater Georgia's broader mission that has already registered tens of thousands of lean-conservative voters, this latest registration drive will continue at a variety of consumer marketplaces over the coming weeks, including at gas stations, grocery stores, and gun stores. It will also include an accompanying digital and text registration campaign in counties across the metro area. "Georgia families are running on fumes and cannot afford more of the reckless Washington spending that is draining their wallets on everyday purchases like gas and groceries. That's where Greater Georgia comes in, making sure that everyone knows their vote is their voice," said Greater Georgia Chairwoman and former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler. "Our latest effort will empower Georgia consumers who are feeling the pain of the Left's failed agenda – and encourage them to vote for conservative leaders. We're on the ground engaging with Georgia consumers on the facts: the only way we stop runaway inflation, and get on the road to recovery, is by making our voices heard in May and November." BACKGROUND Atlanta has the worst inflation of any city in the nation, with prices rising 10% in the last 12 months – the highest increase in 40 years. (Marcus K. Garner, "Inflation Highest In Metro Atlanta Over 1 Year: Feds Report," Patch Atlanta, 2/15/2022) One year ago, the average price of gas in Atlanta was $2.71. Today, the average price is almost $4.00/gallon – just short of the highest price ever recorded. (AAA Gas Prices) Compared to last year, Atlanta residents are paying 9.6% more for meat and eggs and 5% more for produce. It costs 8.5% more to pay for rent and 11.8% more to afford clothing. ("Consumer Price Index, Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell — February 2022," Bureau of Labor Statistics, 3/10/2022) Atlanta was officially classified as "unaffordable" by the Federal Reserve for runaway housing prices.
