Centre for Mental Health news

** April 2022
------------------------------------------------------------
Hello from Sarah!
Dear friends,

This month we published our evaluation of Shifting the Dial, an innovative partnership supporting young Black men in Birmingham with their mental health and wellbeing. Take a look at
our report ([link removed]) to learn about the difference culturally-informed spaces can make.

This research was deeply informed by the insights of our peer researchers, who brought cultural understanding and context to the analysis. Listen to our latest podcast ([link removed]) with peer researcher Amarno Inai and senior researcher Androulla Harris to hear more about the value of peer research.

We’ve also shared an excellent new piece ([link removed]) from our writer in residence, Amy Pollard, exploring parallels between dealing with societal polarisation and bipolar, and a response ([link removed]) from a group of our Young Changemakers on the Government’s schools white paper.

We were pleased to see an amendment we supported ([link removed]) – requiring Integrated Care Boards to include someone with mental health expertise – agreed as part of the Health & Care Bill; an important step towards parity of esteem.

Take care,

Sarah
