Dear Friends -

I want to thank you very much for the great support you have given us as we stand with workers and their unions in the struggle for justice and dignity on the job.

To my mind, at this difficult moment in American history, there is nothing more important than bringing working people together in the fight against corporate greed and oligarchy. At a time when corporate profits are at an all-time high, and the wealth of billionaires is soaring, it is unacceptable that half of our people live paycheck to paycheck and millions cannot afford the basic necessities of life.

During the last year, with your help, we have stood with courageous workers around the country who have been on strike or who are engaged in union organizing efforts.

We've stood with UAW workers on strike at John Deere in the Midwest.

We've stood with United Steel Workers on strike at Special Metals in West Virginia.

We've stood with Kroger workers on strike in Colorado.

We've stood with Bakery Workers on strike at Kellogg's in Michigan, Nabisco in several states, and Rich Products in California.

We've stood with UMW workers who are still on strike at Warrior Met in Alabama.

We've stood with nurses in their contract negotiations at Kaiser Permanente and at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.

And right now we are supporting the Amazon Labor Union which just won an unprecedented victory in Staten Island with the first ever successful organizing effort at an Amazon facility – and are attempting to soon win another victory at an Amazon warehouse.

We are also working with Starbucks workers who, for the first time, are successfully organizing coffee shops all across the country.

And we're supporting graduate students and adjunct professors at MIT who are waging a strong union organizing effort on that campus.

We support these workers and are in solidarity with them because they are not only organizing for themselves and for their coworkers, but for all of us – for the future of the entire country.

Given the nature of corporate media, the struggles of the working class in communities across the country often go unnoticed. But let's be clear. These union struggles against corporate greed ultimately determine the quality of wages, benefits and working conditions that all American workers enjoy. They also increase the influence that working people have in the political process and in state and federal legislative agendas.

In other words, when unionized workers do well in raising the bar for economic and social justice, we all do well. Their success is our shared success, and that is why we fight — because rebuilding a strong middle class in this country goes hand-in-hand with building a strong labor movement.

So today, I am asking you for a contribution to help us continue our efforts supporting these workers and growing the American labor movement.

A portion of your donation will go directly to the workers fighting at Amazon, Starbucks and other struggles. Another portion will be used to help us mobilize our supporters directly on behalf of working class struggles. We’ll use your donation to share their stories with videos and live streams on our large social media channels.

So I am asking:

Can you please make a contribution to help us continue to support worker movements across the country in their fight for better wages, better health care and the right to retire with dignity?

Bernie Sanders
