Dear Higb,

Brooklyn Young Democrats would like to announce the results of our latest round of endorsements, and the passed amendments to our constitution from our March General Body Meeting.

All our endorsed candidates all proven progressive leaders in our borough, and we're looking forward to helping them cross the finish line in June!

BYD is also looking for internal partners to help forward this progressive vision. Our Policy & Women's caucuses both have vacant chair positions. Not only do these caucuses need leadership, but we are also looking to revitalize them with active participants too! If you are interested or would like to get involved, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

Keep an eye out for upcoming events to help all our endorsed candidates get over the finish line to victory!

Special Announcement!
On Monday night, Brooklyn Young Democrats gathered to hear from candidates and discuss a vision that we see for Brooklyn. It's clear to us in BYD that Brooklyn Can't Wait for change. That Brooklyn Can't Wait for transparency. That Brooklyn Can't Wait for equity. That is why on Monday, BYD President Hunter Rabinowitz and New Kings Democrat president Caitlin Kawaguchi were proud to announce that our clubs and Lambda Independent Democrats will be working closely to get our cross-endorsed candidates for District leader to the finish line in June and that all of our endorsed candidates for District Leader thus far will sign onto the Brooklyn Can't Wait ([link removed]) pledge for a better Brooklyn Democratic Party.
Help us build the vision. Sign up here to help out! ([link removed])
Constitutional Amendments
All three Amendments to the BYD Constitution have passed! They read as followed:

1. Codifying the Virtual Endorsement Procedure

When voting for an endorsement concludes, the raw vote totals are forwarded to every Brooklyn Young Democrats Board Member. The Secretary shall announce to the Brooklyn Young Democrats’ full executive board the raw vote totals and the winner (if any) of each endorsement vote. Any member who requests to see the raw vote totals is permitted to during a meeting with the Secretary. The Secretary shall schedule a meeting with the member within 7 days of their request.

2. Limiting Political Donations to BYD Board Members Seeking Elected Office

Brooklyn Young Democrats shall not donate more than the following amounts to executive board members seeking elected offices.

County Committee: $0
District Leader: $350
State Assembly, State Senate, City Council: $500
Congress: $1,000

If an executive board member runs for an office that is not listed above, then they are eligible to receive up to either $500 or an amount equal to the average contribution that BYD has offered past candidates who have run for that office.

3. Reorganization of BYD Executive Board Responsibilities to Align with New NYS Assembly Maps
