We are approaching the end of the first quarter of 2022, and I have to be honest, it hasn’t been an easy few months.
We’ve faced opposition from Republicans on voting rights. We’ve witnessed attacks on reproductive freedom.
We’ve watched as democracy across our country and around the world has come under attack.
And yet, too many of my Republican colleagues have doubled down on anti-American, anti-democratic rhetoric and actions.
But still, I have hope.
This quarter, we also celebrated the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, which has provided health care to millions of Americans.
We’ve managed to reduce the number of Americans on unemployment insurance to its lowest level in more than half a century.
And we’ve witnessed the expertise and intellect of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as she undergoes Senate confirmation hearings.
We can accomplish so much more, but if we don’t defend and widen our Senate majority this November, our progress will be seriously threatened.
