KSGOP Calls on Governor Kelly to Sign
Bill Banning Sanctuary Cities

(TOPEKA, Kan.) – Today, the Kansas Legislature passed a bill ([link removed]) that would prohibit sanctuary cities in the state. The legislation which received bipartisan support has been spearheaded by Attorney General Derek Schmidt ([link removed]) and comes after Wyandotte County passed an ordinance creating a sanctuary city that would block police from cooperating or reporting to Immigration and Customs enforcement.

"Sanctuary cities and their policies go against the rule of law and only exacerbate the crisis at our border," said Shannon Pahls, KSGOP Executive Director. "While Laura Kelly has refused to speak out against Joe Biden's border crisis, deadly drugs like fentanyl are flowing over our border and into Kansas communities. It's about time Laura Kelly puts the safety of Kansans ahead of her party's radical agenda and she can start by signing this bipartisan legislation into law."
