Hello Wonderful People!

Some of you may know this - I love cycling. I thoroughly enjoy being able to fully take in a morning ride, cycling with others, or utilizing it as a better mode of transportation.

I'm also super competitive - not just about sports, but board games, anything really; I love a good competition - and our campaign's March Madness Grassroots Fundraising ([link removed]) gets at some of this fun competitiveness during this college basketball holiday season.

But I wanted to step back if you'll let me for a moment - because yes, it takes dollars, and those resources are important to support the engine of campaigns, but I think it's important to talk about why the sports and fitness intersectionality matters to all of us.

I will continue to advocate for safe streets to make our city more bikeable. In every district across Massachusetts, we cannot just strive for no more bike deaths, and we must legislate our morality to ensure this. A more bikeable Massachusetts means another step towards a Green New Deal for MA because we are destroying our planet with our continued over-reliance on gas-guzzling vehicles.

Through sports, we can see the kids of our neighborhoods across the district have a safe place to play and enjoy our community. It's about matching policy to provide more playgrounds and open spaces to nurture a stronger community. And I firmly believe that when we give our kids more access to better sports facilities, we're building new leaders through sport, new comradery, and a better way of life.

Sports, Fitness, and Wellness policy is better for our bodies, wallets, and planet. So as we are communicating about our March Madness Grassroots Fundraising ([link removed]) , I'm mindful of the type of legislator that I am and will continue to be.

Together moving forward, let's win,
Rep Nika
