☕ Solidarity is Brewing in Atlanta ☕

On Sunday March 6th, over 20 Atlanta DSA members gathered outside of the Starbucks at Howell Mill in solidarity with workers fighting to unionize their workplace. Together, organizers flyered the neighborhoods and shopping centers surrounding the store to help raise awareness and build community support for the union as workers face increased pressure from Starbucks corporate.

All over the country, Starbucks workers are filing to unionize their stores. Currently, over 150 stores have filed, including two Starbucks locations in the Atlanta area (...)

We had our first in-person general meeting of 2022 this Saturday, and it was a great one!

Our guest speaker was a leader of the unionization effort at an Atlanta Starbucks store. They inspired us with their account of the courageous efforts of workers fighting for representation and answered questions about how DSA can help. (Go to the store to voice support! Leave cash tips!)

Next we had breakout sections where members could learn more about 4 of our different committees: Editoral, Electoral, Labor, and Membership.

Lively, respectful, comradely debate on Resolution 22-6 and its amendment followed, and we codified single transferable vote (STV) with approval voting as our counting method for future steering committee elections. And we passed Resolution 22-9: Affirming the Principles of Democratic Socialism by unanimous consent!

We closed out with the first appearance of the Rose Ensemble, leading the membership in a rousing performance of Solidarity Forever.

📚 Socialism and War Workshop 📚

Why do countries go to war? What are socialist and non-socialist views on war? And most importantly, how can socialists meaningfully oppose war? Join us for a virtual discussion tonight Monday, March 28 6:00-7:00 PM.

✊ Help Us Fight for $15 in Georgia ✊

Millions of workers put their lives on the line daily for unlivable wages and unfair treatment in the workplace. And while the pandemic surges on, the 1% continues to exploit working people for profits. Enough is enough: working Georgians deserve a living wage of at least $15/hour!

Atlanta DSA has been busy over the last couple months launching our campaign to Fight for $15 talking to working Georgians about the cost of living and why we need to fight for a living wage!

👕 Donate to Organize the South! 👕

Did you know that DSA is entirely member-funded?

This means we're free from the influence of corporate donors and wealthy "philanthropists" whose interests run opposite to our own.

It also means we need the help from YOU everyday working people  to keep the momentum going for socialist organizing in the South!

If you want to support our organizing work, you can make a monthly contribution at atldsa.org/monthly. PLUS give $10 or more monthly and get a free t-shirt! Email [email protected] to claim your shirt!

Why donate monthly? We have a world to win! That's not just a slogan; it's a game plan. When you donate monthly, you're contributing directly to community organizing efforts in and around metro Atlanta. Your donation helps us pay for critical administrative costs such as storage and meeting space, digital organizing tools, and educational materials.
