Running Forward. Together.

Dear John,

Election Day 2019 was two weeks ago—and we’re ready to celebrate.

This year, we helped elect candidates who are committed to governing #WiththePeople. Nelsie Yang, a TakeAction Minnesota organizer, became the first Hmong women elected to the St. Paul City Council. Kissy Coakley became the first black woman elected in Minnetonka. And in Duluth, we increased the progressive voting base by nearly 2,000 votes.

Our candidates did not run to the middle – we ran forward. And we won.

Join us to celebrate these wins and get ready for 2020. Our People’s Celebration is on Saturday, Dec. 14. Join hundreds of progressive Minnesotans from across the state for dinner, celebration, and a dance-filled after party. Get your early bird tickets today.

2020 is just around the corner, so it’s worth digging into how we won:

  • We talked to our people. In Duluth alone, one in five people had a TakeAction member knock on their door at their house or apartment.
  • We told our stories. We reached out to people who had never voted in a municipal election before. One East Sider told us, “I don’t vote, but you’ve been knocking on my door for weeks so I guess this matters.”
  • We rose together. We threw down for our people, completing over 48,000 door knocks and phone calls across the state.

We ran our biggest municipal program ever this year, but we’re not done.

Join us to celebrate the year and look forward to 2020. Hurry and get your tickets to our 2019 People’s Celebration today. Early bird prices disappear Thursday, November 21 at 11:59 p.m.

We don’t need to tell you that the stakes next year are even higher. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the 2020 elections are the biggest elections of our lifetimes. But we know if we rise in unbreakable solidarity, we will win.

2020, here we come.
