Team: 83 cents.
That’s how much on average a woman is paid in the U.S. for every $1 a man makes.
And team, the pay gap for women of color is far worse:
- Black women are paid on average 64 cents for every $1 a man makes;
- Native American women make 58 cents on average;
- And Hispanic women make 54 cents compared to white, non-Hispanic men in the workforce.
That’s why today, we celebrate Equal Pay Day — the day in the new year that a woman must work until in order to make the same amount of money a man earned on average during the last calendar year.
We’re joining the national conversation today with action. Will you join us by standing up for equal pay for all women today?
