Take, for example, Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, New York. One of the finest Gothic Revival mansions in America, Lyndhurst’s equally monumental grounds were showing the effects of time and nature. Using original plans, photographs, and archival records, the National Trust restored and recreated much of Lyndhurst’s landscape so that visitors can literally step back in time.
