Anti-choice politicians are using every trick in the book to restrict reproductive freedom—and the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Cameron v. EMW Women’s Surgical Center last week has given them the green light to continue trying to undermine our fundamental rights.

The Court’s ruling allows Kentucky's anti-choice attorney general, Daniel Cameron, to step in at the last minute to defend an abortion ban—despite lower courts having already found this ban to be unconstitutional. If Cameron revives the ban, it could push access to abortion care out of reach for people in Kentucky and surrounding states.

Here’s why this decision matters for all of us: Believing that the end of Roe is on the horizon, anti-choice state lawmakers across the country are in a frenzy introducing and passing unconstitutional bans and restrictions on abortion access. Florida passed a 15-week ban just last week—and anti-choice politicians in other states are moving to do the same.

The Supreme Court will soon rule in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization —a case about Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade . If the Court upholds Mississippi's ban, Roe will fall and 28 states would likely take action to outlaw abortion outright. Of those, 12 states—including Kentucky—already have "trigger bans" in place, which would automatically ban abortion.

John, the anti-choice movement will stop at nothing to undo the legal right to abortion in this country.
