Honoring our Top Cops and a Local WW2 Hero

at the 109th Precinct

At the monthly meeting of the 109th Precinct Community Council on Wednesday
night, I was proud to sponsor the Precinct's Cop of the Month Awards, where
standout officers are recognized for efforts in which they go above and
beyond to keep our community safe. Thank you to these officers!

I was also honored to recognize Whitestone's own Ret. Sgt. Alfred J.
Driano, who landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day and is a recipient of the Purple
Heart and the Bronze Star. Thank you for your remarkable bravery and
service!

Touring the Largest Wholesale Produce Market in the World

Had the opportunity Wednesday morning to tour the Hunts Point Meat and
Produce Markets, where I was able to see the heart and soul of the East
Coast's food industry in action. Looking forward to chairing a NYC Council
Economic Development Committee Hearing on this massive distribution center
later this month.

Commemorating Jawaharlal Nehru's Birthday

Thank you to the Indo-US Democracy Foundation for inviting me to be a Guest
of Honor at Thursday night's Celebration of Jawaharlal Nehru's Birthday in
Glen Oaks! Deeply honored to help commemorate Nehru's life and lasting
legacy and to receive the Humanitarian Award from this active group.

A Furry Friend in Need of a Home!

Last week, a furry wanderer looking for a human companion paid my family a
visit. Local nonprofit TNR Utopia is now taking good care of "Rocco," but
he is looking for a forever home! Please contact this great group of
volunteers at 347-850-CATS [2287] or call my office at 718-619-8611 if you
are interested.

Thanks to TNR Utopia for your help!
