Fox News released their latest poll of the Georgia Governor’s race. The headline is Kemp leads 50-39.

This headline is misleading at best. First, this poll was taken of ALL Republican voters, not just Republican Primary voters. Second, when you look at the details, there are a couple of observations that more accurately depict where this race is currently.

Roughly three times as many Republicans vote in the general election as compared to the Republican Primary.

This makes the following two data points very meaningful:
* 54% of all Republicans polled say they are “extremely interested.” This is the group most likely to vote in the upcoming Republican Primary. In this group, Perdue leads 49-42.

* 57% of all Republicans polled say they are “extremely favorable” of Trump. And 79% are “extremely favorable” or “favorable” of Trump. In the “extremely favorable” group, 87% say that they will definitely vote and Perdue leads 52-39.

Given that only just over 50% of Republican Primary voters are aware that Trump has endorsed Perdue, Perdue's support will continue to grow as that message gets out. Advertising, combined with President Trump’s engagement in this race and organization on the ground, will put Perdue over the top.

This race is just beginning to kick into high gear, and Perdue is well-positioned for victory on May 24.
