This International Women’s Day, our hearts are breaking as we witness the horrifying scenes of mothers and children fleeing for their lives in Ukraine, all because of one man’s terroristic mission to take over a democratic nation.

Women in America are under a different kind of attack, with the fate of Roe v. Wade in peril. Again, at the hands of men attempting to take away women’s rights. And as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, let us carry with us the lessons we learned. We must never allow women, especially women of color, to be so disproportionally burdened again.

But most importantly, on this International Women’s Day, we must confront the war on women wherever they live in this world. At home we are confronting a war on our democracy, both attacking our constitutional right to make our voice heard at the ballot box and the right of women to choose an abortion. Both are unacceptable!
