Today I held a press conference with Ohio Democratic Party Chair Elizabeth Walters to hold Sec. Frank LaRose accountable for failing to do his job. He has shirked his responsibility to create fair maps by passing illegal, gerrymandered maps and placing partisanship over his responsibility to Ohioans. This action is not only unconstitotional, it's costly–both in money and in trust in our elections.
Sec. LaRose has created chaos around the Primary Election by caving to his party and leaving Ohioans to pay the price--literally! He ordered our county boards of elections to start the process of preparing ballots without maps being approved. This is a logistical nightmare that could end up costing Ohioans millions of dollars for his mistake. Even worse, it creates so much confusion that it could disenfranchise voters.
I have no intention of letting Sec. LaRose get away with this.
Our press conference is just the beginning.
I am going to go to every corner of the state to make sure Ohioans know that they have a choice in this eleciton.
There is the current Secretary of State who wants to do whatever will help his party. Or, we can tear down every wall between eligible voters and the ballot box.
There is the current Secretary of State who wants to make sure his friends in Columbus are taken care of. Or, we can build Ohio businesses by connecting them to the resources needed to succeed–resources I wish I knew about when I started my business.
There is a real choice. But we must get that message out. Sec. Frank LaRose has spent years raising money so he can try to decieve Ohio about his record.
We have the truth on our side–which is a lot–but we need you too. Please help fund our efforts to tell Ohioians the truth about Sec. LaRose and his misdeeds.
