** Bipartisan Legislation Introduced to Bolster Civic Bridging Capacity
------------------------------------------------------------

On February 25, nine Democrats and nine Republicans co-sponsored legislation to empower communities to tackle sources of division and strengthen civic bridgebuilding efforts across America. Our Common Purpose report's recommendation 4.2 ([link removed]) calls for investment in the leadership capacity of the civic one million. Inspired by the report, this legislation introduced by Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06) demonstrates that bipartisan progress toward the report's vision to renew our constitutional democracy is possible. Read more about the legislation here ([link removed]) .

** The Solutions Summit
------------------------------------------------------------
RepresentWomen's ([link removed]) inaugural democracy Solutions Summit will bring together experts and leaders in election administration, voting rights, and democracy reform who are working on innovative solutions that upgrade and strengthen our democracy. The summit will take place on March 8-10 from 3-5pm ET.

Danielle Allen, co-chair of the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship will headline day 1 of the summit and Jessica Lieberman, Program Officer for American Institutions, Society, and the Public Good will speak on expanding the House of Representatives ([link removed]) on day 3 of the summit.

BOOK RELEASE: 100% Democracy - The Case for Universal Voting
by E.J. Dionne Jr. and Miles Rapoport

E.J. Dionne, Washington Post columnist and member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and Miles Rapoport, Harvard Kennedy School Senior Practice Fellow and member of the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship ([link removed]) present a persuasive argument for universal voting in the U.S. in their upcoming new book. According to Publisher's Weekly ([link removed]) , the book is "backed by copious data and a firm grasp of the legislative process, and is a cogent call for rethinking the electoral process." Hardcover copies of the book will be available for purchase from The New Press ([link removed]) starting on March 22.

LIBRARIES AS BRIDGES
On February 25, a group of 18 library professionals from across the country joined a virtual conversation of the Libraries as Bridges ([link removed]) network to discuss the challenges and opportunities for libraries in the democracy space. This was the second event in a multi-part series to advance the role of libraries in creating civic infrastructure and sustaining a healthy constitutional democracy.
