Friend,

This week, Joe Biden delivered his first State of the Union address.

The President spoke for a little longer than an hour, and while I appreciate his call for support of Ukraine in the face of Russia’s invasion, the remainder of his speech was full of promises that will balloon our national deficit.

President Biden called for a broad range of policies that show his administration is either ignoring current challenges it has inflicted on the American people, or it doesn’t care.
Included in his agenda is a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. While the President claimed that these measures would not infringe on the Second Amendment, that simply isn’t true.

Our Second Amendment doesn’t exist to protect our right to hunt and target shoot - it exists to protect the ancient, unalienable right of self-defense. Joe Biden swore to uphold the Constitution, including the parts he doesn’t like.

Biden also called for a $15 federal minimum wage, a policy that sounds nice on paper, until you realize we are in the midst of an inflation crisis.

More than doubling the federal minimum wage would certainly drive unemployment even higher, as businesses couldn’t pay for new hires, making inflation even worse.

These are the policy proposals of a party and a president oblivious to the needs of everyday Americans. Biden and his party are out of touch and out of control, and I look forward to November, when, with your help, we can take back the House and make sure the agenda outlined in the State of the Union never becomes a reality.
