🔍 Your quick-guide to Union Busting 🔎

Over the course of the pandemic we've seen an increase workers fighting for more rights in the workplace, including an increase in minimum wage, safer working conditions, and health benefits. If you're planning to organize your own workplace, keep an eye out for these union-busting tactics used by employers!

  • Be wary of "captive audience" meetings
    • These are mandatory meetings in which management pushes anti-union propaganda and misinformation on workers in an attempt to dissuade them from forming a union. Be prepared to ask questions during these types of meetings.
  • "Wait and See"
    • If talks and support of a union are rising in your workplace, be wary of temporary improvements and concessions made by your employer in hopes of settling discussions.
  • "Astroturf Campaigns"
    • Employers may solicit anti-union associates to spread anti-union literature and talking points in the hopes of making it seem as though there is a grassroots campaign against your unionizing efforts.

If you're interested in organizing your workplace it's important to know your rights and what tricks to expect from your employers. Check out National Labor Relation Board (NLRB), Union Busting Playbook, and Labor Lab for more resources! Also be sure to reach out to the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee for support in your effort

Fight for $15, picture of a man with raised fist

Millions of workers put their lives on the line daily for unlivable wages and unfair treatment in the workplace. And while the pandemic surges on, the 1% continues to exploit working people for profits. Enough is enough: working Georgians deserve a living wage of at least $15/hour!

Atlanta DSA has been busy over the last month launching our campaign to Fight for $15 — talking to working Georgians about the cost of living and why we need to fight for a living wage!
