John,
“These laws don’t infringe on the 2nd Amendment, they save lives” -POTUS
Tonight, during the State of the Union, President Biden took a moment to acknowledge the current gun violence epidemic and announce his administration’s plans to combat it. He called for Universal Background Checks, banning ghost guns and assault weapons, and holding gun manufacturers accountable. These are evidence-backed solutions to help end this epidemic once and for all.
This was a win for our movement, but our work is not done yet.
With help from supporters like you, we’ve been putting pressure on the Biden Administration and Congress these last couple of months to address increasing gun violence and take swift action, and tonight President Biden took the first steps to do just that – but it isn’t enough. Nearly 50,000 Americans have died from guns since President Biden took office. Relying on failed policing solutions will not combat the scale of this crisis. We need urgent, comprehensive action. John, we cannot let another year go by without action and with your continued support we’ll hold President Biden and Congress accountable. Can you chip in $3 or more to help keep this momentum going?
This is the moment for President Biden to demonstrate leadership and fulfill the campaign promises he made to survivors and advocates. This is the moment for Congress to do their job and swiftly pass gun safety legislation and gun violence prevention measures.
While we are glad that President Biden has acknowledged the increasing gun deaths under his administration, we are now urging him to take immediate action by declaring a national emergency on gun violence, creating a national plan to tackle this epidemic, and appoint a Cabinet-level Director of Gun Violence Prevention. We are also urging Congress to take immediate action and pass critical gun safety legislation. Sympathy is not enough, we demand action from our elected officials.
John, can you contribute $3 to our movement so we can continue to hold the Biden Administration and Congress accountable?
Thanks for all you do,
Zeenat Yahya
