Last night, Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked the advancement of the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), a bill that would safeguard the legal right to abortion throughout the country if Roe v. Wade falls.

We’re grateful to the Democratic leadership in the Senate for bringing this vote to the floor and to every senator who voted in support of advancing WHPA at a moment when the future of legal abortion faces unprecedented threats. We will remember who fought for our fundamental rights.

It’s no secret that reproductive freedom in our country is facing a crisis, and the Republicans who blocked WHPA have made clear that voters cannot trust them to protect our fundamental freedoms when it matters most.

With an anti-choice supermajority on the U.S. Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe, and anti-choice state lawmakers escalating their efforts to ban abortion, we cannot back down in our efforts to create a future where reproductive freedom truly is for every body.

Take a moment to thank those senators who voted to advance WHPA, and to tell those who voted against this critical legislation that we will not forget come Election Day.
