Friend, this week our country is watching closely as public impeachment hearings into Donald Trump's abuses of power and criminal behavior have begun.

Most people who know me, who come to town halls, and who interact with our campaign know that we don’t spend a lot of time talking about impeachment -- first and foremost, we’re running to end this country’s healthcare affordability crisis, push for a Green New Deal, and address the injustices of our immigration system.

But the Mueller report was clear: our democracy was attacked by a hostile foreign power, Donald Trump welcomed that help, and Donald Trump obstructed justice into the investigation.

And now he has admitted to extorting Ukraine with Congressionally-approved aid -- taxpayer money -- for political gain.

The American public needs to see the evidence the House has gathered in these impeachment hearings.

And contrary to what Roger Williams and his bosses in DC have told him to say, Congress is asserting its role as a co-equal branch of government and conducting oversight in public, so the American people can hear the evidence.

As today’s hearings were coming to a close, here’s what we know:

-Donald Trump and members of his administration withheld hundreds of millions of dollars in Congressionally approved aid to Ukraine in an effort to force the country to launch an unfounded investigation of one of his political rivals.
-The administration sought to establish a backchannel through a top Trump donor to Trump through Gordon Sondland, who Trump hoped would advance the President’s personal and political interests.
-Testimony from multiple administration and State Department officials has confirmed that there was a pattern of corrupt behavior on the part of the Trump administration with regards to Ukraine and that this corruption was systemic.
-Trump was trying to rig the 2020 election with foreign help -- the day after Robert Mueller’s testimony into Russia's attack on our democracy to help Trump in the 2016 election.
The evidence is already overwhelming. The House must proceed with its Article I duty and impeach this president.

Donald Trump didn't cause our current political crisis -- but he is a symptom of the corruption that has been allowed to fester in Congress and in our politics. Condemning Trump’s criminal, racist behavior should be a low bar -- but it’s one that Roger Williams can’t even pass. He has marched in lockstep with Trump's policy agenda of health care cuts, tax gifts to billionaires, environmental destruction, and family separation.

It's time for a change in TX-25. We can’t have more of the same. I'm running a campaign free of any and all PAC donations so that I can be accountable to the Texans who I'm fighting for.

We came within single-digits of beating Williams last year -- a record-making performance for a Democrat in this seat. If we stick together and continue to grow our grassroots movement, we can finish the job in 2020. If you can, please stand with me and pitch in $15.
