Hi there, I’m Representative Ritchie Torres of New York’s District 15 and I know a little something about firsts.
When I was elected to the New York City Council in 2013, I was the first openly gay elected official from the Bronx in the history of our government. When I was sworn in last month, I became the first openly gay Afro Latino to be elected to the United States Congress.
As one of the nine co-chairs of Equality PAC, it is my honor to support LGBTQ+ candidates across the country achieving their own set of firsts. When Clay Aiken is elected to represent North Carolina, he will make history as the first openly gay member of congress representing the South.
In the queer community we often talk about how representation without protection is dangerous. But Clay doesn’t just provide representation for LGBTQ+ folks across the South, he’s got plans to fight for equality as well. Standing up for what is right might not always be safe, but it may make others safer. I applaud Clay’s bravery and courage.
Clay’s End of Month Budget Deadline is Monday, and I’d like to ask you to contribute to his supplies fund. Join me in supporting Clay Aiken for North Carolina by giving below: [[link removed]]

I’m ready for Clay to make history, are you?
Congressman Ritchie Torres
Clay is running for Congress in the North Carolina. He was born, raised, and is currently raising his son in the Triangle. He's running to use his voice to speak up and stop the loudest voices on the far ends of the political spectrum from sucking up all the oxygen in our political discourse.
Donate now to join the chorus and help send Clay to Congress. [[link removed]]
