If we haven’t met before, I’m Taylor Jones – Deputy Organizing Director at Real Justice and a Texas voter.
Today is the LAST DAY of early voting in the Texas primaries.
We need to do everything we can to give our incredible slate of progressive changemakers a final boost before the primaries on March 1st. With even more punitive, racist, and violent laws being enacted in Texas, we need to mobilize more than ever to ensure our communities have people who are fighting for them.
We need to give it our all to make sure our candidates have what they need to turn out as many voters as possible between now and Election Day, John.
Despite the terrifying news you might be seeing come out of Texas, what I’m seeing on the ground is how ready and excited people are to fight for transformative justice. Our organizing matters. When our communities are under attack, we stand up, and we fight back.
We know that our organizing is making a difference — because it is making a lot of people in power extremely scared. That’s why we’ve seen conservative politicians, police unions, and right wing mega-donors throw so much money at stopping our hard-won progress.
They have waged just about every kind of attack in the books against the DA’s we helped to elect and against our movement.
They are mongering fear and spreading lies about the need to double down on racist policing.
They have tried to make it harder to vote for Black and brown Texans.
It’s because they want to maintain the status quo that protects the wealthy and white.
This is our first big primary of the year and what happens THIS TUESDAY will set the tone for our movement for the rest of 2022.
If we can win these races in Texas, we will have the momentum we need to win more races and then turn those into concrete services and support for our communities, city by city, county by county.
