John,
Today, President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. This is a historic moment: Judge Jackson is the first Black woman ever nominated for the Supreme Court.
This is a phenomenal and overdue milestone.
We are thrilled with President Biden’s decision to nominate Judge Jackson. She is experienced and highly qualified. Her confirmation to the Supreme Court is a chance to have a justice who values the lived experiences of every body and will protect their fundamental rights and freedoms—including reproductive freedom.

Judge Jackson’s nomination comes at a pivotal moment in the fight for reproductive freedom. In the coming months, the anti-choice supermajority on the Supreme Court will issue a ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization , a case regarding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade and could end the constitutional right to abortion.
Upholding Mississippi’s ban will end Roe’s protections. While Judge Jackson’s confirmation will not impact the outcome of this case, her presence will shape the Court in the decades to come.
