As we continue to celebrate Black History Month throughout February, it is important to remember that Black immigrants make up a large part of the population and play an integral role in our society. According to New American Economy, there are 4.3 million Black immigrants living in the United States, which equates to about 9% of the entire foreign-born population in the country.
Black immigrants make countless countless contributions to the United States. However, these communities face a unique set of challenges and are the most impacted by bad immigration policies and politics. For example, due to a number of factors including biases in policy-making, Black immigrants are more likely to be detained and deported than any other group.
That is why this Black History Month, I invite you to join America’s Voice in celebrating the Black immigrant community by supporting advocates and fighting back against harmful policies
Here are 3 things you can do to help and celebrate Black immigrants this Black History Month:

Black immigrants live in communities across the country so the decisions of local and state officials impact them directly. Contact your representatives and senators and tell them to do what they can to end the inhumane treatment of Black migrants in your local communities.
